Door County August 2007
We headed to northern Wisconsin
for our first trip to Door County,
the "Cape Cod" of the
midwest (I dunno, never been to Cape Cod).
We loaded up the Volvo and headed
north...

First stop was for lunch in Port
Washington, WI

Grant enjoyed looking at the fishing
boats.

A memorial for those lost at sea

We made it to Egg Harbor, a town
in Door County.
Here is the view from our balcony.

We immediately went to Pirate's
Cove for some mini-golf.

The next day, we went to The Farm.

Tobi and Grant made nice with
Cinnamon, the cow.

And we fed piglets some bottles
of milk.

Grant made friends quickly with
the goats.

And then he got to help milk one...

Yowza!

Next we went to PC
Junction , the local train restaurant.

And made "friends" in
Fish Creek.

Played some more mini-golf...

And continuing the theme of large
chairs...

We put the Volvo on the ferry
and headed
to Washington Island.

The locals pointed us to K.
K. Fiske, a resaurant
that serves what the locals refer
to as lawyer
fish.*

*it was really good!
After lunch we went up in the
lookout tower.

And then we spent time at Schoolhouse
Beach.

Then we made it back to the peninsula
and
ate at the Door County institution
of Wilson's.

Charlie enjoyed the grilled cheese.

And Tobi got a root beer as big
as his head...

and drank every last bit...

Just goofy boys...

Then we did a bike ride through
the Peninsula State Park.
Charlie stayed back with Grandma
Nancy.

Near the end of our trip, we went
to Al Johnson's,
the famous restaurant with goats
on the roof.
Except that day, we
beat the goats to the restaurant.
So here they are being herded
to the roof.

Grandpa Joe & Grandma Nancy
came with us.

Afterward we went to a 'secret'
beach.

Grant and Tobi went to the

and our last sunset in Door County.
